SOS was first established in 2000 as a company specializing solely in practice management presentations. In 2003 our focus broadened to include consulting services. This change came about as a result of continuous requests to personally coach and advise health care professionals.
When you hire SOS, you hire a team, Jason Kraus and Lynn Homisak, PRT. Each SOS partner brings different, yet complimentary skills to bear on each client engagement. The broad areas of expertise include organizational design and financial management, marketing and revenue enrichment and staff training and management. When combined, these categories will cover the entire spectrum of client needs. We have first hand experience with the challenges of practice growth or the stresses of building and running a practice. We want to share this personal knowledge with others in an effort to help them grow and develop their practices. Please click here to learn more about each partner
Our preferred toll free phone number is 1-866-832-6767. We can also be reached on our local WA number [425-235-4971] or by emailing each of the partners directly: Lynn: lynn@soshms.com or Jason: jason@soshms.com
We attempt to be personally available to answer any of your questions. However, due to the nature of our business we travel from time to time. When this happens your phone calls are forwarded and we make every effort to respond to your questions as quickly as possible. If you DO happen to reach our voice mail, we are only temporarily away and your call will be returned promptly.
Our consulting work covers a variety of areas of expertise including business administration skills, marketing plans, practice operations, staff development and training, management strategies, organizational design, cost containment, customer service enhancement, change management and revenue enrichment strategies. The specific focus in your practice will be determined by an initial needs analysis. Frequently, this can be accomplished via a complimentary conference call with the three SOS partners.
One SOS partner will be assigned as your Project Manager. This determination is made based on your most essential area of need. The Project Manager will be responsible to bring additional resources on an as-needed basis in order to accomplish the project objectives. In general SOS operates in a collaborative fashion and both Partners share an awareness and involvement with every client
You will find that our contract model is different than most consultants. Given the difficulty of determining the entire scope of a project and length of the corresponding consulting engagement, SOS does not utilize a project fee approach. Instead we charge a modest Practice Initiation Fee of $1995.00 which includes practice data review and a Summary of Findings Report. From this point forward our fees are $175 per consulting hour. This provides our clients with the greatest degree of flexibility regarding their relationship with SOS. We charge clients only for the time they need and use.
To initiate a contract with SOS, there is a $1995 Practice Initiation fee. This fee entitles you to a comprehensive practice assessment which is based on a review of certain practice data. Staff efficiency and management structure is also evaluated utilizing a proprietary SOS evaluation questionnaire. Following the preparation of these reports, a teleconference is scheduled (also included in that fee) to discuss the report and answer any questions you have relative to the information provided or strategies outlined. Some SOS clients feel that they will be able to implement the strategies and recommendations themselves and bring the consulting project to a close at this time. Most clients, however, work with SOS to implement the practice recommendations and the relationship expands. Each client enjoys the flexibility to choose what will be best for themselves.
Our existing hourly contract models are designed in such a way that literally puts you in the driver’s seat. Our practice analysis will provide you with a list of well thought out recommendations that we feel will be most beneficial to you. At that point you are entitled to do one of three things: a) take the list and begin implementing those steps that you feel you can do on your own; b) read the list and do nothing at all; or c) request that SOS step in and begin implementing them for you. Perhaps you would be more comfortable looking at us as your professional service resource…where you can use as much or as little as you need and only pay for what you use.
Simple! Just call our administrative office 1-866-832-6767 and speak with Lynn. She will ask you a couple of questions regarding what you feel your greatest area of need is, obtain your contact information, and arrange for a complimentary teleconference. This teleconference will allow us to acquire some necessary details about your practice in order to prepare an appropriate proposal of objectives and deliverables. You can expect to receive this proposal (via email or mail – your preference) back to you within two days of our call.
There is no appropriate answer to this question. Our contracts vary greatly due to the specific needs of our clients, our level of involvement with the practice and the complexity of the practice environment. Our client list ranges from solo practices to very large groups.
As an example, however, it is not unusual that a staffing/operations project generally will start with an 8-15 hour onsite visit to evaluate staff structure, job descriptions and patient and office flow. A comprehensive report will be crafted and depending on the extent of your needs and recommendations made for improvement, additional remote follow up time is arranged. A better assessment can be given based on the outcome of the efficiency and staff duties evaluation. Keep in mind that time dedicated to this type of project depends 100% on the cooperation received by the staff and the doctor. Just as teamwork and cooperation will get the job done much quicker, lack of the same will end up costing more.
We can make great strides if our clients have an open mind, are willing to make changes, go into projects asking for the support of their entire team, timely responses to emails and/or phone calls….. and oh yeah, pay their bills promptly!
Our services are logged into your account immediately and itemized bills (detailing the services rendered) are sent monthly either by email or mail (according to your preference.) While we love what we do, we also have bills to pay, so we expect and appreciate full payment within 15 days of receiving your bill.
Occasionally, we are engaged in a very large assignment which will require SOS to set aside substantial consulting hours on behalf of a particular client. In these cases we may require that some retainer fee be paid up front and the consulting hours will be paid from this retainer. For more information regarding this please call our administrative office 1-866-832-6767.
We offer services to both solo and group practices.
Generally, work involving staff development and training, management, practice operations and organizational design require on-site visits. Our more comprehensive marketing plans and revenue enrichment strategies can sometimes also necessitate a visit to the practice to survey the community or observe practice protocols. By and large, services that deal with business administration or cost containment do not have need of on site visitation.
The client is responsible for all travel expenses and SOS will find the best possible coach or economy class airfare and travel arrangements to keep these costs down. Reasonable and necessary business and travel expenses (including but not limited to transport fares, airport parking, taxi or car rental, fuel, hotel reservations, modest meal allowance) actually incurred by SOS shall be reimbursed by Client upon submission of expense reports with back-up documentation. All such expenses in excess of $25 and all travel plans must be approved in advance by Client. If you have any discounted arrangements with local hotels, you must advise SOS to request these rates. Travel time for on site visitations (if required) is charged at $75.00 per hour but will not exceed $300.00 per day.
SOS contracts do not contain minimum engagement requirements. If you wish to discontinue your relationship with SOS, simply advise us and all services will cease. A final bill will be sent to you for any time accumulated in your account at the time of contract termination.
This is an area in which SOS truly excels. Prior to an initial onsite visit, Lynn will send a letter to the staff and explain who she is, an overview of what her work with the practice involves, her background as a podiatric medical assistant (a bonding point with staff) and a request for their assistance in helping her implement new strategies. SOS is very successful in securing staff buy in and almost always receives a warm welcome into the practice.
Aside from private practice consulting engagements, SOS has additional practice management products to offer to the podiatric community. These include:
- 1-2-3- Forms - A book of perforated practice management forms used to organize podiatric practices and/or a CD with editable fields to allow customization (on some forms).
- A custom Employee Handbook
- Comprehensive Practice Analysis - measuring financial and productivity benchmarks
- Comprehensive staff efficiency analysis - reviewing staff utilization, training, salary review and human resource evaluations
- Our unique Consultative Practice Retreats (or CPR) held in various parts of the country. Please click on any of the links above to learn more about that particular product or call us 1-866-832-6767 for more information.
The practice data report includes information and recommendations regarding your treatment habits, cash flow, accounts receivable management, expenses, and staffing. Your practice's data is much like an EKG. The interpretation of this data reveals valuable information about your practice and may help you design strategies that are both effective and efficient.
Consultative Practice Retreat or CPR is SOS Healthcare Management Solutions’ unique blend of practice consulting services brought to you in an exciting group, learning environment. Prior to the retreat, an individual SWOT (Strength's weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis is performed on each practice by data provided to SOS. Then, during this information-packed education weekend, personalized attention is given to each attendee in the development of their action plans (based on their analysis), providing practitioners and administrators the knowledge and tools to maximize the performance of their practices.
Not only can staff attend (at a discounted rate)…but they are encouraged to attend, particularly if they are in a position to help implement change. We have found that many strategies discussed at our CPR sessions are much more likely to be carried out if staff is right there and involved in the process. The energy and enthusiasm they receive from being onsite is instrumental in generating a positive can-do attitude and the end result is both doctor and staff work together to create and reach their action plans and goals. It really is a pretty phenomenal dynamic!
Each of these SOS services are unique and offer clients different solutions. The CPR program provides attendees with an analysis of practice weaknesses and suggests a plan of corrective action. The consultative services involve work with clients in order to implement the suggested recommendations. Used together, clients often find that they receive greater benefits than they would have had they only used one of the services. But don’t just take our word for it...please click here to view the testimonials we’ve received from both clients and non-client attendees; then decide for yourself.
